So basically here is the first instalment of a new weekly feature that I am trying to look to incorporate – a simple goal of the week competition. Here I’ll post the best goals that I’ve seen or been told about in the week before and you can vote on your favourite or suggest an alternative. So here we go:
A. Neymar vs. Internacional – Here we see Neymar’s value increasing ever further scoring a wonder goal as a part of a hat trick to help his Santos team to a 3-1 win. The teenager picks the ball up in his own half, soars past three defenders and then delicately dinks the ball over the on-rushing goalkeeper.
B. Zlatan Ibrahimovic vs Lecce – The big Swede powered home a difficult bouncing ball in Milan’s game with Lecce. Zlatan’s goal was even more important as Milan moved 4 points clear at the top of the table after title rivals Juventus drew a blank against Genoa. A big game player?
C. Xandao vs. Manchester City – It’s not often you see goals scored with your heel, let alone by a centre defender. However, this was the case when City visited Estádio José Alvalade on Thursday night when Xandao’s quick reactions and invention gave Lisbon a 1-0 lead to take to Eastlands in the return leg.
D. Karim Bellarabi vs. Barcelona – It was a shame that the scoreline was 7-0 in the oppositions favour when Bellarabi scored this peach of goal. Certainly one that Barcelona themselves would have been proud of. It was only Bellarabi’s second game for the Bundesliga side.
E. Lionel Messi vs. Bayer 04 Leverkusen – After looking at his credentials for being the best ever earlier in the week, it would be rude not to include the little Argentine in this poll. I’ve opted for his hat trick goal to put in the running, but if you think otherwise, do tell me. Messi times his run perfectly before controlling the ball and lifting it over the goalkeeper on his weaker foot. Not bad. Not bad at all.
So let me know what you think.
